Praise into Performance: How CoachUp Care Is Increasing Capacity for Amada Senior Care

MissionCare Collective recently met with Rachel Baugh at Amada Senior Care of Cedar Cedar Rapids to discuss workforce strategy in home care. She shared how by making their team feel more appreciated their employees are more willing to pick up extra shifts and completing necessary care notes in a timely fashion.

Here is the full transcript.

"One of the most important things about CoachUp Care that I love and admire is the fact that I am able to reach out to any one of our caregivers and give them a shout out or kudos for something that they have done. I'm also able to reach out to them to see if there's anything that I can do to help support them.

CoachUp Care has allowed us to keep our caregivers engaged as well as be able to connect with them. When we notice that there's something going on instead of like ousting out one person, I have made it where I am involving everybody. A good example is in January. I did an Easter egg hunt where I hid a clue in care notes and ADLs because we had a decrease in them being completed correctly. And instead of just having one caregiver feel like it was just on them, I included all of our employees, so it was kind of like a fun task and then every time they found one, they called in or they messaged in, they got their name in a drawing that we had a weekly drawing and then we had a monthly drawing, and it actually increased the amount of ADLs and care notes that were being done correctly and on time, and we weren't having to reach out to try to get them from caregivers.

I have noticed that since we use CoachUp Care that we do have more people who don't normally pick up hours picking up hours. I also see the ones that do pick up hours are really thankful for the extra coach up points they get, the shout outs, the, you know, the kudos and the good jobs they do. I think it is important to have those extra steps in a company so that people feel like they are being appreciated for what they do as well as able to earn extras, whether it be, you know, 1, 5, 10 points, or if they get a referral, you know, it depends on what it is, but I do see, and I have seen them effectively use their points to buy things. They do like the idea of being able to get stuff, and I think they're more opted to do more work or pick up or follow up with the trivia just so they can get those extra points so they can earn something."
